Production Manager/Coordinator (8-month contract)
Your New CNN Role…
The Production Coordinator is an individual contributor role, who will be coordinating, organizing and supporting significant production-related efforts for the network. You will be the production point of contact in Asia-Pacific, and will create, handle and manage the production schedules, rosters, logistics and budgets for Newsgathering and Features departments in Asia-Pacific. You will be expected to work with various stakeholders from across CNN's global network.
The Daily...
• Build, coordinate and manage rosters for Newsgathering, News Desk staff for Video and Text, which includes but is not limited to editorial, photojournalists and producers
• Anticipate staffing needs and issues and provide solutions to the Directors of Coverage and Senior Futures Planning Editor
• Apply solid editorial knowledge (such as upcoming news events, breaking news, general news agenda) to plan the rosters and shifts for Newsgathering and the News Desk for Video and Text
• Organize the logistical arrangements for Newsgathering, the News Desk, Features and other departments of CNN when they travel in Asia-Pacific
• Assist the network's editorial representative for all production related projects
• Act as the ''go to'' expert on all production and administration related matters for internal CNN staff, intra-company departments, third party contacts
• Provide administrative and logistical support including visas, filming permissions, travel and accommodations for Newsgathering, Features and News Desk (Video and Text) teams for planned and breaking news assignments across Asia-Pacific
• Coordinate all production and administration related matters including onboarding and training for Newsgathering the News Desk, bureaus and other teams
• Maintain knowledge of production costs, identify production efficiencies, and contribute to cost analysis processes
• Prepare budgets for newsgathering and features assignments
• Work closely with Business Operations to manage production costs
• Manage freelancers for the Newsgathering and the News Desk, including sourcing, contract management, onboarding and processing invoices
Qualifications & Experience...
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 3 to 5 years of work experience in an international news environment
• Previous work experience in a programming or production-related operation
• Excellent command of spoken and written English is essential, knowledge of Asian languages a plus
• Detail-minded, organized, proactive and must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• People person - excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Be prepared to work across multiple time zones and out of hours to collaborate with teams in London and Atlanta. Available to work at weekends if and when necessary
