Part Time Writer

CBS News Colorado is looking for a collaborative news writer who is interested in crafting content for all platforms. Responsible for writing copy for newscasts, including vo, vo/sots and packages. Write conversation, factual, and ethical copy that provides appropriate depth and context. May be responsible for breaking news coverage. Participate in editorial meetings, developing content, and contributing to all broadcast and digital platforms. Fill-in producing when called on. Exhibit confidence in a control room.

Must be a master of storytelling and the written word. Desktop editing experience preferred. Understanding top story treatment, elementing of stories, effective teasing, aggressive use of live elements, and innovation of presentation is helpful. Willing to learn all news systems.

REQUIREMENTS: Television or streaming experience a plus. Willingness to workday/night/overnight & weekend shifts.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Entry level.

Hiring Salary Range: $20/hr

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
