The Role
Complex Networks is looking for a Features Editor. You will report to the Editorial Creative Director.
You Will
• Edit features, essays, cover stories, and other written content, paying attention to structure, sourcing, and copy, for Complex.com across the topics of Music, Pop Culture, Style, and Sports
• Work with editorial leads of said vertical topics to help guide voice and vision for Complex.com
• Develop writers to further their growth as accomplished storytellers, reporters, and essayists for Complex
• Communicate with Editorial Creative Director and Editorial Strategy Director on maximizing efficiency of edit process
• Be aware of news cycle and pitch in on story brainstorming/formats when needed
You Have
• 5+ years of editing experience at a website, newspaper, or magazine
• Experience publishing stories and editing copy in content management systems
• Always-on approach to work
• Commitment to accurate, clean copy; fact-checking or copy-editing background
• Must be comfortable working with a broad range of cross-functional staff
• Excellent organizational and time management skills-ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, and think quickly and strategically to meet tight deadlines
• Distinguish the good content from the ''noise''
