Job Description

Variety, the most trusted source for the business of global entertainment, is hiring a Ecommerce Writer. The ideal candidate will have experience writing ecommerce content and a demonstrated interest in covering the consumer market through an entertainment lens.

Responsibilities
• Write a minimum of 15 shoppable stories a week, including assigned articles and original pitches. Stories could include but are not limited to product round-ups, gift guides, deal posts, branded content and galleries
• Responsible for idea-generation of stories, the writing of those stories, and producing the affiliate links for them
• Maintain editorial calendar of ecomm stories, linked to entertainment/news tentpoles
• Consult daily with PMC's web and ecomm teams to optimize planned stories
• Strategically update pre-existing ecomm articles to accumulate SEO authority
• Work with other editorial staff to collect ideas for stories
• Ensure that ecomm on Variety is as engaging editorially as any other pieces on Variety and lives up to the site's editorial standards

Goals
• Write at least 15-20 ecommerce articles per week
• Consistent, demonstrated traffic growth for all ecommerce
• Hit robust volume, traffic and revenue targets

Requirements
• A minimum of 2-3 years in the affiliate marketing and commerce space
• Must have demonstrated understanding of affiliate marketing, including the ability to pull links from affiliate networks, negotiate commission rates and liaise with affiliate partners
• A history of journalistic excellence with experience in tech, and/or fashion a plus
• A minute attention to detail, including following specific SEO best practices that directly impact our traffic
• Demonstrated ecomm experience with specific revenue wins that can be verified.

As PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.

This position will pay $68,750. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
