Job Description
Leverages analytical, financial, and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions in support of all company objectives, with a particular focus on the financial analysis required by Distribution and Royalty Accounting. Applies deep knowledge of BMI's distribution in order to provide insights and recommendations that inform business decisions and process engineering. Maintains Distribution budget and forecast, as well as periodic reporting package for leadership and Board of Directors.
LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Reporting:
• Develops and maintains a periodic reporting package related to the overall distribution budget.
• Maintains and improves existing tools and processes related to tracking affiliate premium deals and required accounting transactions.
• Develops and maintains a growing suite of reports and dashboards that service the information needs of various groups across Distribution & Administration and Royalty Accounting.
• Collaborates with a cross segment of business owners to develop new reporting protocols that measure KPIs, ROIs, and other metrics as needed by each business unit.
• Collaborates with the business owners across the distribution supply chain to provide consultancy and translate the business needs to design, develop and deliver tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization.
Analytics:
• Prepares analysis and business intelligence to support distribution processing and financial reporting, and the negotiation of BMI licensing and Creative deals.
• Tracks trends and surfaces insights related to distribution, Creative deals and potential impacts of internal policies.
• Provides analysis or data to support litigation, DOJ efforts, as well as other lobbying efforts.
• Uses various technologies to mine complex, voluminous, and different varieties of data sources and platforms to support effective business decisions and/or processes.
Distribution:
• Designs and creates complex distribution models, performs scenario testing and other forms of analysis to ensure BMIs delivery of a competitive and quality distribution.
• In partnership with department leadership, devises and executes distribution plans for all digital licenses where no music use reports are available, and competitive proprietary models are essential. Ensures BMI's approach is consistent, comprehensive, and logically robust.
• Performs extensive ad hoc/offline distribution processing, which includes data modeling, distribution file creation, data archiving, and quality assurance.
• Identifies and implements new controls surrounding distribution to mitigate risk.
• Understands all aspects of the BMI distribution supply chain, including data structures, business processes, and distribution methodologies.
Other Requirements:
• Supports testing with the deployment of new systems and distributions.
• Supports various business initiatives and projects as it relates to data analysis and reporting.
• Promotes the use of data tools and best practices and ensures stakeholders' analytic needs are being met.
• Participates in continuous process improvement to ensure departmental efficiencies are identified, implemented and maintained.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises departmental team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training team members; planning, assigning, directing and ensuring reliability of work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's Degree required with emphasis in Finance, Economics, or similar discipline preferred. Graduate Degree preferred.
Experience:
Six plus (6+) years of directly related experience and a combination of the required technical skills listed below:
• SQL experience required.
• Scripting experience.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting.
• Strong experience with data in various forms (data warehouses/SQL, unstructured data environments).
• Working experience with various BI Reporting Tools.
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis, preparation and presentation of findings and recommendations to Sr. Management
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Excel and Access.

SALARY RANGE
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
