Amazon Music is looking for a passionate and creative music curation professional to join and lead the Content Programming team in Japan. As Head of Content Programming, you will be leveraging your deep music expertise to curate, program, and manage music content to best serve our music customers across various platforms. This role requires a keen understanding of Japanese music genres, artists, industry trends, and listener preferences. You are also the music and culture expert for Japan, collaborating closely with the global programming and product teams to develop curation strategies to innovative new music experience for Amazon Music customers. The Head of Content Programming is a member of the Amazon Music Japan leadership team.

Key job responsibilities
* Curate and program music contents in playlists and stations, and listening experiences based on a nuanced understanding of music genres, trends, styles, and listener preferences
* Analyze data of user listening behavior, and leverage expertise knowledge such as local/global music genres, artists and industry trends to identify opportunities for new music programming and curation initiatives
* Advise leadership team on decisions relating to content/artist selections, and represent programming in cross-functional discussions and projects to ensure alignment on Japan strategy
* Mentor junior music programmers and share knowledge of best practices in music-focused content curation and editorial programming
* Obtain industry news such as emerging music genres, artists, and industry movements to ensure the music programming remains fresh, relevant, and cutting-edge

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in any discipline
* 6+ years of experience in A&R, music production, music curation, programming, editorial or any related roles within the digital music/media industry
* Extensive knowledge of Japanese music genres (J-Pop, J-Rock, J-Hop Hop, Anime etc.) and artists
* Communication in Native level fluency Japanese and Business level English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Deep understanding of Japan listener preferences and industry trends with the ability to identify emerging styles and movements
* Excellent collaboration and communication abilities to work cross-functionally with music content and product teams
* Knowledge and experience in audio content production
* Familiarity with recommendation system design, content-based filtering, and collaborative filtering techniques
* Demonstrated success in conceiving and executing innovative music programming and curation initiatives
