Job Summary/Description:
WWSB ABC7, located in Sarasota, Florida is searching for the next Lead Producer/Host to partner with an established, ensemble cast on the station's lifestyle show called The Suncoast View. Applicants should have a vision of excellence in digital and broadcast production, collaborating with the team daily to bring the show to life, ultimately connecting with our community in new and exciting ways!
The Suncoast View is considered a true station gem and has become a sought-after destination in ABC7's broadcast schedule. Fun, Smart Talk is what we're about-everything from hot topics and sit-downs with newsmakers and entertainers to live, local performances and tempting tastings in our kitchen. This show thrives in the studio and the team is now successfully taking the production on the road with multi-camera remotes.
The right candidate understands hosting onset is the easy part of the job. Our next Lead Producer/Host should thrive behind the scenes, by being exceptionally well-read and plugged into our community, knowing what makes it sizzle, and acknowledging where there's still work to be done.
This teammate will be extremely organized, helping keep the show calendar stacked, and our segments high-energy and engaging. Our next Lead Producer/Host should be able to work the phone and connect with potential guests on social media, just as seamlessly as they can work with other newsroom leaders to seek staffing solutions. Clean, confident, off-prompter delivery is a must, as is the ability to engage with digital audiences on the ABC7 Live Desk, as well as on our website using the station's Content Manager System.
ABC7's Lifestyle Team is an important part of the station's news department so consider this a newsroom leadership position. Expect to have a seat table in weekly managers' meetings and when we talk broadcast innovation. After all, we'll need your help dreaming big with digital innovation and cross-company collaboration.
NOTE: WWSB-TV monitors and regularly covers extreme weather threats, including strong Tropical Storms and Hurricanes. The Suncoast View Team plays a vital role in the ABC7 newsroom response, helping connect viewers and digital users with life-saving news and information. Safety is always our top priority, and all teammates and management are required to be present at the station to serve our local community before, during, and after a storm.
Duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead and collaborate with an established team of Producer/Hosts to plan, produce, and broadcast a daily one-hour lifestyle program
• Seek, assess, and confirm multiple daily segments, leveraging guests and individuals in advance of live and pre-taped segments
• Research events and issues to go deeper, to commit to repurposed segment placement across the broadcast schedule
• Produce & present clear, confident, and thoughtful ''live'' and ''look live'' reports on digital and broadcast platforms
• Plan daily with other news managers for staff and scheduling needs, including scheduling of Photographers, Editors, and Producers.
• Be proficient in all MMJ Workflows, including ENG Camera, LiveU, and Edius operations
• Create and publish meaningful, unique digital videos using platforms like Canva
• Clip videos and write stories for the website and upgrade that content for digital enhancements, including extended CTV and Live Desk production
• Drive CTV adoption and engagement with news and marketing teams to create and promote exclusive CTV content on platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.
• Collaborate with the Sales Team on the production of sponsored segments for broadcast
• Organize and Leverage User-Generated Content for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Lead efforts to increase social referrals by developing engaging, shareable content that drives users to WWSB platforms.
• Seek counsel regularly from and assist other station and lifestyle show leaders throughout Gray Media.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Seamless engagement with an ensemble cast on live, unscripted television and behind the scenes in the newsroom.
• Eagerness to see the possible and to lead teammates of varying experience levels with positive engagement.
• College degree in communication or journalism, with a strict adherence to copyright clearance and ethics.
• Ability to create, write, and publish content on station broadcast, digital and social platforms.
• At least two years of on-camera hosting experience, and three years of producing experience are preferred.
• Enthusiasm for emerging technology and new production workflows.
• Ability to pivot into breaking news production and workflows as necessary.
• Availability to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and holidays as deemed necessary.
