Job Summary/Description:

WWSB-TV / ABC7 in Sarasota, Florida, is searching for our next First Alert Meteorologist / Reporter (MMJ). This teammate will have a love of forecasting on broadcast, digital & social platforms, a passion for tracking the tropics, and the drive to tell personality-driven stories and segments when not in the Weather Center.

This next teammate will have a love of forecasting on broadcast, digital & social platforms, a passion for tracking the tropics, and the drive to tell personality-driven stories and segments when not in the weather center. While sunshine abounds on Florida's Gulf Coast, our viewers depend on our meteorologists to track storms in real time and articulate changes to the forecast. Our next meteorologist will partner with a seasoned and trusted team of meteorologists. Confident delivery is a must when producing real-time tracking and personality-driven segments. This teammate will also help tell enterprise and assigned stories as an MMJ.

Please note: This position primarily supports weekends, and is budgeted at 25 hours/week.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research and present engaging weather forecasts using the station's technology
- Partner with our team of meteorologists to grow cutting-edge forecasting techniques
- Confidently deliver life-saving information in the studio and live in the field
- Regularly collaborate with producers for weather story showcasing
- Record, write, and post real-time updates on digital and social platforms
- Shoot, Edi,t and File assigned news reports in television, digital, and social formats
- Produce live enterprise and breaking stories using MMJ workflows
- Develop and maintain contacts with local newsmakers and experts
- Partner with newsroom managers and teammates, and teamwork

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Demonstrated track record of producing weather forecasts for broadcast, digital, and social platforms
- Two Years' experience forecasting at a commercial television station, experience with Tropical Weather a plus
- Ability to handle breaking weather on-air, online, and behind the scenes in a timely and professional manner
- Working knowledge of WSI & other Weather Software
- Experience with MMJ Equipment & Cell phone technologies to produce live forecasts and news reports
- Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience
