Job Summary/Description:
WVLT is looking for a creative and passionate producer who is ready to deliver urgent, important, and unique content to a multiplatform audience. The ideal candidate must be able to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines in a high-energy environment. We are looking for a producer who is a conversational writer with a good eye for graphics and other visuals to tell the stories that matter to East Tennessee.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Produce live newscast(s) daily
-Select content and write scripts
-Communicate with anchors, reporters, assignment desk, field crews, editors, and others to ensure the execution of a high-quality newscast
-Produce live breaking news and special event coverage
-Write stories for all digital platforms
-Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
- Clear, concise, conversational writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid news judgment
- Strong journalistic ethics
- Make quick, accurate decisions and work well under pressure
- Team player attitude
- Desire to win
