Job Summary/Description:
WTOC is looking for a detail-oriented taskmaster to coordinate resources in our newsroom. This role will be responsible for our daily planner, coordinating breaking news coverage, and communicating coverage with regional newsrooms and network affiliates. A successful assignment manager will build contacts with media liaisons across the viewing area.
Duties/Responsibilities include, (but are not limited to):
-Maintaining the daily planner in ENPS.
- Communicating daily coverage plans with Gray Media stations, network affiliates, and others.
- Confirm breaking news and re-assign crews to cover.
- Funnel confirmed information to producers during breaking news.
- Posting content to the website.
- Coordinating live shot assignments with photographers.
- Assigning news stories to photographers.
- Assigning camera gear and station vehicles.
- Working with the newsroom management team to coordinate weekend news coverage.
- Fulfilling network content requests.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in journalism or mass communication is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in a newsroom as a reporter, MMJ, producer, or assignment editor is preferred.
- Familiarity with ENPS, Edius, LiveU is preferred.
