WTAJ is seeking an experienced meteorologist to join our award-winning news team in central Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will have the drive and talent to be number one, and must be able to produce and deliver dynamic, compelling, and understandable forecasts for our newscasts and digital platforms.

Our meteorologists work in a multi-platform environment and contribute daily to our digital platforms, including social media, our weather app, and website. Responsibilities also include working directly with the news team to build out our coverage and make it meaningful and relatable to our viewers. Our meteorologists also report in the field. Strong leadership and teamwork are a must. You will work with the News Director and Chief Meteorologist to execute our Your Weather Authority strategy. The shift includes weekend evenings and three weekdays. We love unique personalities who want to invest the time to connect with our community and be a part of our award-winning weather team.
Experience and Requirements, not limited to but include:
• Some proficiency and working knowledge of multimedia/video tools and applications and basic Internet technologies such as HTML, RSS, FTP is beneficial
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience; entry level meteorologist skills
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Working weekends and filling-in for odd shifts is required for this position
• Use of advanced technology like WSI Weather Computer System
• Use of camera equipment and editing software (Adobe Premiere)
• Use of digital technology like small-tech camera gear and digital programming system
• Use of web and digital programs such as WordPress as well as digital platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Chartbeat.
• Work with news and weather team on stories and editorial direction
• Enterprise unique, impactful and on-brand stories
• Write in-depth and sometimes investigative original news and weather content for various platforms
• Take a lead on breaking news, weather and in-depth, investigative stories on relevant topics
• Update and maintain online presence, including mobile sites and apps
• Inter-departmental communication
• Strong news and weather writing and editing skills
• Attention to journalistic integrity and best practices
• Ability to create visually rich content such on various platforms
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and quality
• Other duties as assigned
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
