Broadcast Operations Technician
WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA has an opening for an experienced broadcast Operations Technician. The Operations Technician maintains the technical integrity of the station's on-air signals and its equipment from acquisition to distribution. You will report to the Assistant Chief Engineer.
Responsibilities
Use of computers and software to perform numerous workflows including operating news production automation systems to create consistent error free newscasts. Other desired skills include master control operations which involves media preparation, playlist management, record schedule management, and transmitter remote control equipment. Manual operation of production control room equipment, including video switchers, audio mixers, HD video servers is desired.
Using video, audio and waveform quality control monitors, must be able to judge video and audio levels and quality to a high degree of accuracy.
Maintain and understand lighting grid and control board with knowledge to maintain proper programming; climbing ladders to change and adjust lighting fixtures
Other responsibilities as assigned by Engineering Management
Requirements
• 2+ years of experience working as an operations technician at a commercial television station with experience operating different broadcast equipment
• Must have a solid background in operation of broadcast television systems and equipment
• Applicant must be capable of a high degree of independent thought and action.
• Must be able to make judgments quickly and perform tasks on schedule with a very low rate of error.
• Applicant must be highly computer literate.
• Applicant must also be reliable and punctual and be able to work varied shifts including overnight, holidays and weekends
• Related military experience will be considered
