Job Description
WSBT has an immediate opening for a Producer / Host for our Hometown Living Show. This position will offer the best of being behind the scenes and in front of the camera. This person will help produce the show and be in the community reporting on news that matters to our viewers during the week. We are looking for someone who is flexible, creative, and energetic and who can think and perform outside the box. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of what goes into a good story. They should have great writing skills, a solid work ethic and a positive attitude.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Solid judgment
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Be able to multitask and manage time in order to put together an exciting and informative newscast
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Assists with all daily show preparation and content generation
• Assist the Executive Producer with booking guests and writing teases
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
• Experience with managing live shots is required Experience with Live-U is a plus
• Professional interaction and collaboration with clients and guests is required
• The ability to carry out sales segments as assigned
• Contributes content to the website and all digital platforms
• Coordinate and Meet with Marketing Consultants and Mangers as assigned to schedule sales clients for interviews and shoots
• Interacts with viewers on social media
• Produce sales segments (live and pre-taped) in rundown
• Create and order graphics for paid/non-paid segments
• Select or provide b-roll for interviews
• Proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews
• Smooth/pleasant delivery
• Strong writing skills and news judgment
• Sharp video shooting and editing skills
• Must have and maintain a valid license and a good driving record
Experience:
• Must have some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
• A Journalism degree is preferred
• Proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systems
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills are a must
• Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Creative storytelling The ability to work well independently
• Experience working with clients and sales teams in a production environment is preferred
• Experience with live shots is required
• Experience with Live-U is a plus
