Job Description
WPRI 12 / WNAC FOX PROVIDENCE is searching for an ambitious and dedicated news anchor. You'll join a talented team that prioritizes LOCAL news, breaking news and in-depth reporting on all screens. We are looking for someone who is passionate about journalism, especially the call to serve the public. The anchor will be asked to anchor, report, break news stories and produce long-form content when assigned. You will be responsible for generating sources, enterprising story ideas, and follow-ups. ''Digital First'' thinking is a must. The ability to shoot and edit stories is a must.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib
• Minimum three years' experience in news reporting or anchoring
• Superior on-air presence
• Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues. Knowledge of the Providence / New Bedford market a plus
• Experience guiding and motivating others
• Ability to collaborate on content and deliver a strong newscast
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

Responsibilities
• Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Supports the 12 News brand
• Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating news programming and other content
• Anchors newscasts and reports in the field
• Conducts interviews with news subjects and others
• Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required
• Participates in promotional activities including public appearances
• Works with community members to help make life better for the viewers we serve
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
• Shoots video, Edits video clips as assigned
• Writes content for the website and other eMedia platforms
• Professionally interacts with viewers/users on social media sites

Experience: A minimum of three years reporting experience, with anchoring experience at a commercial station are required. The successful candidate will have strong command of all aspects of anchoring; demonstrate strong news judgment; and be a proven team leader. The successful candidate must demonstrate the desire to put journalistic skills such as newsgathering, writing, interviewing, and ethical decision-making into practice daily.

Work Environment: Deadline driven environment can be stressful. Candidate must be willing and able to work any and all shifts, particularly in the event of major news. Pre-employment background & DMV check.
