Newscast Director

Job Description

WPEC is looking for a Newscast Director! The successful candidate will be responsible for coding and executing newscasts using Ross Overdrive production automation software in collaboration with producers and fellow directors. This position will also manage schedules for a team of 6 as well as lead and organize training for new directors. This is a great position for an experienced TD who wants to expand their responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare newscasts for air using Ross Overdrive automation software
• Direct and TD any assigned newscasts and recordings using Overdrive
• Maintain production studio and control room
• Support and train TD staff
• Maintain schedule for TD team
• Work with Operations and Engineering to resolve control room/show production technical issues.
• Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned
• Maintain a high standard of quality for his/her own work

Requirements:
• Proficient in the use of basic computer systems (Windows Operating System) and software
• Experience Directing and TDing newscasts, studio shows or sporting events
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment
• Ability to clearly give direction to crew under tight deadlines and during live production
• Typing skill and good spelling necessary
• Must be able to lift & position 40 pound lighting instruments
• Must be able to work well in a team environment
• Experience with Ross xPression, Ross acuity or carbonite switchers a plus
• Ability to respond quickly to solve or work around problems during live show production.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule which may include overnights, weekends and holidays
