Wondery Staff Producer/Writer (New Shows), Wondery

Job summary
Wondery is looking for a writer / producer to help launch and manage its slate of new ongoing weekly shows, such as Against the Odds, Even the Rich and others. We are looking for a candidate who loves non-fiction character-driven audio storytelling and understands how to convey complex information in a dramatic, accurate, and emotionally engaging way. You will work closely with the rest of the New Shows team as well as external creators, hosts and sound designers to launch, produce and grow our existing shows.
**This position is open to LA or NYC

Key job responsibilities
CREATIVE:
* Work with writers and editors to establish framing, structure, and tone for multi-episode season arcs of up to 40,000 words
* Help source diverse writers and voice talent
* Write 400 word story beats and single episodes.
* Pitch ideas and concepts for new Wondery shows
PRODUCTION:
* Work with Senior Producer and Production Manager to help manage all logistics in launching a show including folder and Dropbox organization, production calendar, researching story arcs, assembling episodes, to meet all deadlines on a fast-paced schedule

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years experience as a producer/production manager or line producer
• 3+ years experience with budgeting, scheduling and cost reports

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years producing/writing long form audio, long form magazine, or long form television/film formats
• Understanding of long form three act narrative structure, and the how to ''show'', not tell, in writing
• Experience writing long form narration and writing for the ear
• Strong organization and proven ability to meet deadlines
• Understanding and interest in Wondery's original ''always on'' podcasts Excitement to develop new approaches to storytelling in Wondery's style
