Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as the weekend Meteorologist for our evening newscasts.
• Report, shoot, write, and edit weather and news stories three days a week across multiple platforms.
• Fill in for other Meteorologists during the week when needed.
• Produce and deliver accurate and engaging weather reports for all platforms, including on-air, online, and social media.
• Ensure weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Respond to breaking weather events and urgent newsroom situations, providing critical coverage.
• Write daily web stories with detailed local forecasts and engage with our audience on social media.
• Collaborate with the weather team to create comprehensive, viewer-focused weather coverage.
• Participate in promotional activities, including public appearances.
• Work as an MMJ, producing compelling news stories three days a week.
• Shoot, write, and edit stories from start to finish and post content to the web and social platforms.
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Entry-level to 2 years of experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
• Strong forecasting skills and understanding of Meteorology, with a proven ability to deliver accurate, engaging weather coverage.
• Proficiency in WSI and ENPS is a plus.
• Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills, with experience in non-linear editing.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong social media and digital presentation skills.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including morning, days, evening, holidays, and hurricane coverage.
