Job Description
WGNO-TV in New Orleans is looking for an experienced digital journalist to manage content and audience engagement for WGNO.com as our Digital Content Manager.

The Digital Content Manager will take charge of managing and expanding WGNO.com and its digital platforms while leading a dynamic and results-driven web team. They will oversee the daily packaging, presentation, and distribution of news and enterprise content across all WGNO digital channels. The primary goal is to drive growth in video views, pageviews, and user engagement across all audience segments, with an emphasis on increasing in-DMA reach.

This role requires a strategic thinker who is data-driven, using analytics to inform content decisions and maximize audience engagement. The Digital Content Manager ensures the highest journalistic standards are upheld, maintaining a clear, unbiased voice across all content, with a strong focus on accuracy and integrity. Mastery of AP Style is a must, as this role demands a commitment to ensuring all published content is professional, accurate, and of the highest quality.

As a natural leader and coach, the Digital Content Manager will inspire, manage, and develop a team with diverse personalities and strengths. They will set clear goals, maintain accountability, and champion digital best practices across the entire organization.

This position combines long-term strategic vision with hands-on day-to-day management. The Digital Content Manager must be able to think big while remaining deeply involved in the daily operations, making sure every piece of content supports WGNO's growth objectives.

Position Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of WGNO.com
• Train, coach, and manage a team of digital producers, news reporters-anchors, and interns.
• Communicate goals, processes, and expectations for digital success across all departments
• Report digital data goals and results to the team
• Set and uphold expectations for key performance indicators (KPIs) like pageviews and pages per session
• Evaluate website traffic trends to guide both short-term and long-term content strategies
• Assign, edit, and oversee the production of stories, photos, graphics, videos, audio, and other digital content
• Build strong relationships across the newsroom to ensure WGNO is first to market with breaking news and enterprise content
• Adjust work schedule as necessary to coach team members or produce content

Knowledge/Experience Required:
• A naturally curious and driven personality
• Thorough knowledge of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards
• Strong news judgment and experience managing online news operations
• Highly organized, able to manage a fast-paced, multi-platform digital news environment
• Expertise in SEO best practices and AP Style
• Proficient in tools such as Adobe Analytics and Chartbeat
• Excellent communication skills to navigate the growing influence of digital across all departments
• Self-motivated, competitive, assertive, and capable of working independently under pressure
• Comfort with adopting new technologies in an evolving industry
• Experience in building and managing digital news teams is a plus

Education/Experience:
• At least three years of experience in a digital news operation with a strong editorial focus preferred
• B.A. in journalism, mass communications, marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute
