Job Summary/Description:
WGEM is looking for a Weekend Anchor/Multimedia Journalist to join our Emmy award-winning news team. We are seeking qualified candidates who have a passion for story-telling and news gathering, with a strong understanding of how news is delivered on multiple platforms. You will produce and anchor the weekend late news as well as report from your assigned beat 3 nights a week.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
• Shooting, writing, and editing daily content for newscasts, web, and social media.
• Present information in a fair, unbiased manner, insuring the information is accurate and of interest to viewers.
• Produce and anchor Saturday and Sunday newscasts, post digital content and work closely with weekend reporters.
• Perform other duties necessary to assist the newsroom as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Four year college degree with significant news gathering and writing experience required.
• Ability to work on an unsupervised basis while in the field covering news events.
• Ability to demonstrate personal characteristics such as professionalism, persuasiveness and aggressiveness which are necessary for effective news writing.
• Prior experience using news computer software programs.
