Job Description
WGAL-TV, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate serving the Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon-York market in Pennsylvania, seeks an Executive Producer for our dynamic morning newscasts. We're looking for an organized, visionary leader capable of guiding a team in a rapidly expanding news market. The ideal candidate will be able to manager multiplatform content that thrives on broadcast, mobile and social media. Key responsibilities include shaping the overall design of newscasts, leadership in breaking news situations, and coaching a team of journalists. This role involves balancing the immediate news of the day with planning strategic, long-term content. The Executive Producer will recruit and coach producers, working closely with the News Director to assess and help grow the skills of our staff. An aggressive approach to breaking news is a must, along with the ability to deliver engaging content consistently.Responsibilities:
• Oversee preparation and execution of morning newscasts
• Assign reporters to stories both day-of and long-term
• Utilize creative graphics approaches to enhance presentation quality
• Coach and develop producers, reporters, photojournalists, and anchors
• Respond to breaking news and ensure its presence on digital and social platforms in the early-morning hours
• Boothing and producing newscasts when necessary
• Scheduling, performance reviews, training and feedback sessions for producers
• In-person attendance is required.
Requirements:
• Minimum of three years of producing experience
• Proven writing skills and ability to think visually
• Strong understanding of broadcast audience needs, preferences
• Creative presentation style to effectively showcase resources
• Monitoring and quality control of our morning newscasts
• Adherence to journalistic integrity and ethical standards
