WDTV (CBS), WVFX (FOX), EVFX (CW), AND EDTV (MeTV) combine to provide local news and weather to all of North Central West Virginia. CBS and FOX combine to carry a predominant number of games for the local favorite Pittsburgh Steelers and FOX's Big 12 affiliation brings us our treasured WVU football games. We are the largest TV source for local news and entertainment for our area. Celebrating decades of service and as a local news leader, WDTV features a recently upgraded news studio and a news team dedicated to local news. We pride ourselves on breaking news and weather alerts, and digging deep into the issues affecting our communities. We're dedicated to informing the public, utilizing television, social media and the area's only live-streaming newscast.
Job Summary/Description:
WDTV is is seeking a dynamic Morning Meteorologist. We're looking for someone to help guide our First Alert team and take us to the next level. The ideal candidate has a knack for communication, a passion for meteorology, and speaks the social media language. The successful candidate must be organized, driven, creative, and an active content creator. We are looking for a top-notch meteorologist who can lead our team, tell great weather stories, keep people safe, and be ahead of the curve.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conceptualize and produce accurate weather forecasts and weather-related content across multiple platforms
- Identify and communicate the ''weather story of the day'' to a cross-platform audience
- Be ready and available whenever severe or disruptive weather events may occur
- Clearly communicate the weather information to editorial staff for planning purposes
- Conceptualize and create weather graphics and analyze data from a number of meteorological sources to communicate engaging weather forecasts
- Available to work both in studio and in the field
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BS/BA in Meteorology/Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
- Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the nature of weather events
- Be able to work with weather department
- Ability to follow directions and work on your own is a must
