The Global Business Service (GBS) team aims to be a trusted service partner offering efficient, innovative support operations that will allow WMG, its artists and songwriters to focus on making great music and creating lifelong fans. We focus on excellence in execution, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement as our key values to deliver this result.
Within GBS, t he Americas Shared Service Center is a dedicated group of individuals responsible for centralizing and running accounting, Royalties and Licensing, and other finance operational activities for all Warner Music Group Labels and Affiliates across North and South America.
Y our role:
The Sr. Director of Record to Report Americas will oversee the process delivery team and own the RTR process (Fixed Assets, General Accounting and Financial Reporting, Project Costing, and Inventory Accounting, Artist Projects, Corporate Consolidations, and Account Reconciliations). They will help to re-imagine our processes and systems to establish more standardized and efficient ways of working that will drive WMG's growth and business aspirations.
Here you'll get to:
• Lead RTR process team to support a highly motivated and effective workforce focused on continuous improvement and standard processes .
• Develop, communicate, and implement policies and procedures for the RTR process area.
• Track and measure performance against defined key performance indicators (critical metrics) and service level agreements (SLAs); review critical metrics on a regular basis and suggest changes where vital .
• Report performance (statistics/metrics) to business divisions in accordance with KPIs / SLAs
• Improve RTR business process on a continual basis by applying leading practices.
• Ensure audit controls are followed , provide direction on audit strategy, and assist in the maintenance of internal and external audit procedures .
• Effective partnering with corporate finance team for initial consolidations of the legal entities
• Serve as a point of escalation and final approval (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, etc. )
• Act as key contact / subject matter resource to all external groups which affect / are affected by the RTR process
• Set and supervise tolerances, parameters, users, and profiles in the master databases in the ERP
• Build and maintain relationships with the label/ affiliates .
• Run and coordinate the provision of timely and high-quality service and delivery to the business
• Scope could expand to include additional functions or regions .
• Lead dedicated
Offshore team to drive process improvement and scalability of Shared Service delivery model.
• Be a technical resource for RTR systems for the broader organization and represent the Americas RTR team in operating and governance committees.
The Key Accountabilities are:
• Be prepared and willing to dig into the details enough to be able to support the RTR function effectively. Know who is doing what
on the RTR team, org design, and structure .
• Ensure that appropriate judgement is applied in developing accounting estimates, accruals, reconciliations , and other financial reporting transactions .
• Effective partnering with key Finance stakeholders across the businesses supported by the Americas SSC.
• Govern the end-to-end transactional process related to finance and accounting and influence upstream and downstream processes across the Global Business Servi ces CoE model.
• The RTR process includes, but is not limited, to the following subprocesses : Fixed Assets, leases, inventory, general and corporate accounting, as well as, close and consolidations, internal and external reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax and treasury.
• Each individual subprocess within RTR consists of complex layers of additional subprocesses , each having interdependence across Finance and across the broader organization . The RTR Leader is expected to understand ho w the different areas liaise with each other, who the key stakeholders are, and form relationships accordingly to secure ''buy in'' and sell the vision and concept of Shared Services across the stakeholders.
• Inspire culture of empowerment, accountability, and drive rigor for process
optimization.
• Act as a key stakeholder to develop a culture which monitors and meets the needs of the business through process excellence and metric-driven continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain relati onships at all levels throughout the organization.
• Promote shared service solutions and capabilities to the Labels & Affiliates, especially for manual transaction processing activities core to the Americas Service Center
• Be the escalation point for SLA concerns, address audit findings and solution
other problem areas.
• Perform Period End Closing and Cost Analysis & Reporting
• Support Internal Audit and Controls Champion Team to facilitate consolidations and external reporting.
• About you:
• Leadership at the functional lead/process-owner level in a large, complex global organization with responsibilities for people, process , resources ( budget, equipment, intellectual property) and results.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• MBA/Advanced Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• CPA required
• Broad experience and understanding of system/SAP subject areas, standards and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability in leadership competencies including collaboration , innovation, and being results-or iented
• Able to build strong partnerships with other leaders and able to tailor communication style, frequency and approach
