Job Description

The Internet Investigator is primarily responsible for contributing to WarnerMedia's Anti-Piracy Strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean by protecting the motion picture and linear television content by investigating and reporting on individuals and organizations engaged in (the facilitation of) copyright infringement. This position will also have Anti-Fraud responsibilities and be required to help protect WarnerMedia's OTT services in Latin America.

Candidates must be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to deliver professional results on short deadlines amidst shifting priorities while remaining focused. They also should be detailed-oriented, team players and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Advanced work ethic and creative problem-solving skills including the ability to work well with minimal supervision and guidance are essential.

Key Responsibilities
• As a member of the Latin America Anti-Piracy team, candidates would be expected to contribute to and assist in executing the team's enforcement strategy throughout the region.
• Conduct detailed digital investigations of key players and other international targets involved in copyright infringement, including the investigation of individuals, organizations, and technical infrastructures.
• Deliver forensically sound and actionable investigative reports, adapted to the intended audience.
• Determine enforcement options and recommend appropriate handling of investigations.
• Identify targets suitable for further investigation or escalated actions, including civil and criminal actions.
• Interact with industry partners, law enforcement, vendors, attorneys, and various internal departments to work toward the resolution of problems and to prioritize workload.
• Proactively identify new potential targets.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on emerging trends and technologies in online piracy.
• Any other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
• Minimum three years of relevant work experience in computer science, digital forensics, security incident response, anti-piracy, mobile app or web development, or similar field.
• Computer Science degree or similar is preferred.
• Experience in the identification of, collection and handling of evidence is a requirement
• Experience in coding is a plus
• Must be familiar with social media platforms (discord, 4cham, telegram, tiktok, etc) and how to properly investigate them.
• Experience in conducting technical and non-technical online investigations with a focus on attribution through OSINT techniques is a plus.
• Experience conducting technical Internet investigations concerning websites involving direct download, streaming video and peer-to-peer protocols. Experience in related fields such as online advertising or follow-the-money are a plus.
• Experience in investigations related to copyright infringement is a plus.
• Experience in writing investigative reports is a plus.
• Knowledge of content distribution is a plus
• Fluency in both Spanish and English are required for this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to swiftly search the Internet and navigate complex websites beyond the basic use of search engines.
• Good knowledge of online marketplaces and app stores is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the steps involved in building and operating a website, including the ability to understand source code.
• Good understanding how mobile apps work is preferred.
• Good technical understanding of TCP/IP, Internet routing, HTTP(S), and DNS is strongly preferred.
• Fundamental understanding of Internet governance and the relationships between ISPs, domain names, Whois, IP addresses, hosting providers, and reverse proxy providers.
• Proficiency with investigative tools such as Whois, (reverse) DNS lookups, traceroute, and packet capture analysis.
• Familiarity with OSINT and attribution methods is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with online content distribution methods, including streaming video, file hosting, peer-to-peer sharing, and live broadcasting is a plus.
• Basic understanding of computer crimes statutes and copyright law is a plus
• Basic knowledge of anti-piracy and copyright infringement issues is a plus.
• Possess creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well independently under minimal supervision and guidance.
• Ability to be a team player is a must.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and disseminate information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Display sound judgment, initiative, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate well, both in writing and orally, with people of all experience levels.
• Experience in IT security is a plus
• Proficient with technical flow/charting is a plus
• Working knowledge of the relationships between ISPs, domain names, Whois, IP addresses, and hosting providers, internet governance overall.
• Possess the highest level of work ethic and integrity and possess the ability to maintain, protect and appropriately use confidential information.
