Job Description
Develops overall brand partnership strategy, taking into account the various marketing disciplines and their correlating objectives, on all assigned theatrical films. Leads all pitching and brand relationship activities for assigned films and seamlessly transitions all deals from pitching and close of negotiations to the Execution VP (& team). Maintains continuing oversight of partnership and client management throughout the entire lifecycle. This position also has oversight of development of any and all required pitch materials.
Your Role Accountabilities:
Third Party Tie-ins (Pitching)
• In collaboration with other senior members of the Global Brand Partnerships team (including the SVP/EVP), analyzes and determines promotional viability of each film on the Warner Bros. slate.
• Develops and manages Brand Partnerships Strategy Guidelines for assigned titles in collaboration with VP, Global Brand Partnerships (International) that are consistent with, and support, the overall theatrical marketing strategy for the film.
• Identifies pitch and negotiate partnerships with brands on assigned titles that support the partnership strategy.
• Adapts and adjusts to changing priorities as the film's marketing strategy evolves including working with Execution Team on communication to confirmed partners should their campaigns need to adjust to reflect evolving film strategy.
• Oversees Directors, Account Executive and agency(ies) on promotional pitching phase including, but not limited to, brainstorming, promotional concept ideation, assignment of pitch list, etc.
• Oversees Directors and Account Executive on the development of any and all required selling tools, including items such as pitch decks, sizzle reels, case studies, etc.
• Collaborates closely with VP, Global Brand Partnerships (International) to identify global opportunities as well as to share learnings and creative ideas for international markets to leverage.
• Oversees and is responsible for maximizing productivity from agency(ies).
• Consistently reviews overall promotional strategy/status on assigned films, identifying issues or holes in coverage and addressing them proactively.
• Oversees Directors on developing Schedule 1's, which outlines all agreed upon business terms of confirmed partnerships for transition to Legal/Execution Team for contract execution.
• Oversees Directors and Account Executive for film-specific and departmental status reports for distribution to WB senior management, WB Worldwide Marketing division, filmmakers, rights holders and various cross-divisional departments as required.
• Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with potential promotional partners, becoming familiar with partners' business and marketing objectives/opportunities.
• Works with Directors and Account Executive, as well as the Execution Team, on developing, maintaining and monitoring the budget for each assigned film. This includes negotiating and managing project budgets with any outside vendors.
Management
• Manages and develops Directors, Account Executive and Assistant to provide direction on projects. Acts as mentor overall to help develop their skill sets and career path.
• Works with SVP/EVP to identify areas in which the department's effectiveness can be increased and implement long-term solutions
Cross-Divisional/Intra-Divisional
• Develops relationships and collaborates closely with all other departments in the Worldwide Marketing divison (Creative, Digital, Publicity, Multi-Cultural, Integrated, Strategy, Media & Research) to ensure that all efforts are in alignment with film's marketing strategy and that all opportunities/activites are maximized. Continues collaboration throughout film's lifecyle and adapting/adjusting partnerships as necessary.
• Manages overall relationship with Consumer Products division as it pertains to third party partnerships. Works with SVP/EVP to draft cross-divisional guidelines for film properties that have been identified by WBCP as highly merchandisable. Liaises with WBCP as necessary throughout the execution phase to ensure appropriate aprovals.
• Liaises with Production Resources to determine product placement categories and identify potential partnership opportunities. Continues follow through on any placement-based parternships to ensure requirements are met by all parties. Facilitates and fosters partners relationships with other Warner Bros. divisions to ensure incremental opportunities for partners, additional exposure for film and additional business for other divisions (i.e., WBD Ad Sales, WBIE, WHE, etc.)
• Work closely with WBD Ad Sales to maximize advertising opportunities with clients.
Qualifications & Experience
• 10+ years of promotion marketing and entertainment experience required. Studio experience strongly preferred. Must have previous experience with developing new business opportunities, managing clients, interfacing with/or working within entertainment industry, developing and executing marketing plans, and negotiating contracts and partnerships.
• BA degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline field required.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, clients and outside vendors. Must be able to interface with talent, filmmakers and senior stakeholders.
• Must have superior presentation, speaking and writing skills.
• Must be a strategic thinker and able to execute keeping the film strategy in perspective.
• Must have strong, demonstrated background of creative thinking and idea generation.
• Must be able to analyze promotional environment and identify viable promotional opportunities for Warner Bros. films.
• Must be able to identify and act against priorities and then adjust as needed in a rapidly changing environment.
• Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time.
• Must be able to problem solve.
• Must be able to supervise, guide and evaluate support staff, promotion agency, and all vendors in performance of their tasks.
• Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of computers, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
