As a platform engineering in the Asynchronous Messaging Services team (AMS) you'll be part of the larger Cloud Engineering group who's responsible for building a truly global, self-service cloud platform (PaaS) to enable Global Tech's growing number of engineering teams to build, deploy, run and operate their services in a fully autonomous fashion.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• As the engineering manager s for the Asynchronous Messaging Services team (AMS) you'll be part of the larger Cloud Engineering group who's responsible for building a truly global, self-service cloud platform (PaaS) to enable Global Tech's growing number of engineering teams to build, deploy, run and operate their services in a fully autonomous fashion.
• Your role will focus on leading the development efforts of the Kafka-as-a-Service platform on top of Confluent Cloud.
• You will help set the teams identify and how the teams work in the larger organization. You'll emphasize modern, rigorous software development practices that emphasize testability, repeatability, and self-service automation.
• You will help drive technical decision-making, particularly regarding the architectural direction of the global Kafka platform.
• Your team focuses on providing a simple process for communicating asynchronous between services and provide a set of tools for application teams to leverage.
• You bring passion and enthusiasm to your engineering team. You have a track record of leading top performing teams. You thrive under minimal supervision with the ability to self-motivate and self-organize within the organizational structure.
• You have experience managing a team that runs production infrastructure that supports multiple systems in a scalable, stable, and performant manner.
• You measure everything, make decisions based on data, are consumer-obsessed, and take immense pride in your work.
• You have mastered the ability to delegate – at both the task and project level – to appropriate team members and are able to ensure that the right results are achieved even without your constant oversight.
• You understand a broad range of computer science concepts and know how, when, and when not to use them. You can dive deep into a wide range of technical problems offering suggestions and feedback to your team. Your interest in computer science has not faded as you moved into a leadership role, and you are still comfortable with technical details.
• Your written and verbal communication skills are top-notch. You can distill key points out of complex technical descriptions to share with non-technical stakeholders, adapting your language and style of communication depending on the audience. You communicate through data, dates, and facts using emotion judiciously to motivate and inspire.

What to Bring:
• Bachelor's degree with total 14 – 16 years of experience in software development including 2+ year of team management experience. at least 5 years of hands-on experience with at minimum two messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc
• Hands-on experience with designing and maintaining backend service
• Hands-on experience with at least one IaC tool (e.g. CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure, or other)
• Experience with the development and operation of high throughput systems supporting hundreds of developers or more.
• Experience as a software developer using at least one of (Swift, Kotlin/Java, Javascript or Golang preferred) and has a good understanding of how software applications are built.
• Hands-on experience with automating development workflow pipelines (CI/CD)
• Operational experience (i.e. on-call rotation, incident response)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with remote peers across disparate geographies and time zones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular emphasis on technical documentation (including diagramming)
• Able to administer a team's agile process (creating exemplary tickets in Jira, sprint planning, etc)
