Your New Role:
As an integral member of the SAP BI team, the SAP BusinessObject (BO) and Business Warehouse (BW) manager is responsible for managing the technical and reporting aspects of both the SAP BO and SAP BW systems, ensuring their proper functioning, and leading teams of developers and analysts to develop, maintain and improve new and current SAP BO and BW solutions. The candidate will leverage experience in architecting, configuring, building, deploying, and supporting SAP BO as a shared service across the enterprise with diverse data sources such as IBM DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and others . This candidate must have a deep understanding of business intelligence and data warehouse concepts, as well as a thorough knowledge of SAP BW and its reporting tools, including BEx and AO . This candidate is also responsible for providing strategic direction and thought leadership for the SAP BO and BW systems and ensuring that they align with the overall business strategy.
Your Role Accountabilities:
• Provide strategic direction and thought leadership for the SAP BO and BW systems, ensuring that it aligns with the overall business strategy.
• Manage and lead the SAP BO and BW teams, providing technical guidance, coaching, and support
• Develop and maintain SAP BO and BW solutions, including architecture and administration, security model, the universe and front-end reporting design, and application integration utilizing the BO Software Development Kit (SDK) for BO; and for data models, data sources, ETL processes, BEx queries, AO reports, and dashboards for BW.
• Maintaining prompt remediation of BO and BW-related Info-Security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of data in the SAP BW system by implementing and maintaining data validation and data governance processes. Also, develop and implement recovery procedures in case data consistency issues are found.
• Ensure prompt attention and closure of SNOW tickets as related to BO and BW production support.
• Formulate and practice functional DR plan annually in case a DR was executed.
• Identify and resolve any performance or technical issues, system errors, and data inconsistencies.
• Plan and execute SAP BO and BW system upgrades, patches, and enhancements in collaboration with the IT department.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to SAP BO and BW systems, including architecture, administration, upgrade and patching support, design specifications, project plans, and many others.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design, and develop solutions that meet their needs, and ensure alignment with business goals and
objectives .
• Ensure compliance with security policies, data privacy regulations, and other relevant policies and procedures.
• Monitor and analyze system performance and user adoption, identifying
opportunities for improvement and optimization.
• Keep abreast of the latest SAP BO and BW technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption.
• Lead and oversee the implementation of large-scale SAP BO and BW projects.
• Review monthly Early Watch Report and propose any action items identified in the report.
• Attend the weekly SAP Tech Governance meeting to provide an operational update from BO and BW in case of any challenges and be informed of any planned activities by other teams which might impact BO and BW operations.
• Attend DVM bi-weekly meeting on BW data management planned activities
• Stay abreast of SAP development, roadmap, and hot notes to help improve the current system and advise the future state of BO and BW.
• Close collaboration with other teams that support or interface with BO and BW: Basis, Batch, DBA, SAP functional area support (FI, CO, MM, SD, etc.), Unix, Informatica, Sylvester, Marvin, Cosmos, PLM, web technologies, identify management, outside consultants, and many others to deliver scalable and highly effective BI solutions.
• Leads in the discussion and implementation of best industry practices for both.
• Continuously evaluate and improve the performance of BO and BW solutions and their usability for business users.
Qualifications & Experiences:
• 5 or more years in BO Administration of BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform to include the latest 4.3 software version.
• 12 years of BW development, administration, and support experience including ETL and BEx , and AO, with 6+ years of BW on HANA and 6+ years with BW/HANA in a production environment. A proven track record
of successful project delivery.
• Experience with BO-AWS Cloud-based connectivity and integration points.
• Experience leading a team of intermediate and senior BO and BW resources to provide successful project delivery and an efficient and effective operating environment.
• Experience with integrating BO and BW with multiple SAP-based platforms (ECC; BW; CRM; S/4 HANA; BW/4 HANA; SCM; GRC; Fiori and SAP Portal; etc )
• Experience with Linux or other UNIX variants such as IBM AIX.
• Experience with Windows Server OS, Windows Security, Firewalls, and Networking
• Experience with Oracle, DB2 and other enterprise-level databases.
• Experience with authentication applications with OKTA, AD, and SSO
• Experience with Web Application Server Design and Development using Apache Tomcat
• Experience in BO Universe and report design.
• Experience with application integrations utilizing the BO SDK.
• Experience working with various SDLC methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Application Owners; Architects; Developers; Business Leadership; Business Analysts)
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, ETL processes, BEx query design and AO report development.
• In-depth knowledge of SAP BW on HANA and BW/4HANA architecture, configuration, and administration.
• Deep knowledge of ABAP and HANA SQLScript to provide guidance on the creation and maintenance of routines and table functions used for ETL or exit and BADi variables.
• Experience with operation and support of BW DTO or archiving (IQ NLS), and HANA NSE for data volume management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality results.
• Experience working in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors.
• Adequate interpersonal and communications skills both written and verbal to include translating complex technical issues clearly and precisely to both technical and non-technical parties.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel, both in person and on the telephone.
