The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for new talent to join the ranks of our visual effects team at TT Games Studios!

The role of Junior VFX Artist will enable you to work with multiple departments, Designers, other Artists, Programmers and Producers on a day-to-day basis, conceptualising and creating a wide range of visual effects for our games that achieve the production and quality goals set for the project. The VFX team are creating visual effects in areas such as environments, characters, weapons, cut scenes and more. Become part of the team!

Main Responsibilities:
• Concept and create a wide range of real time visual effects for the game.
• Working with other departments like Gameplay Artists & Code in placing and triggering gameplay VFX.
• Working with the VFX Lead and Art Director on perfecting the style required.
• Working closely with other departments on effects heavy levels to balance frame-rate.
• Optimising skills, ensuring work/level hits all memory and frame rate guides/restrictions for all platforms required.
• Be flexible and understand that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline.
• Responsible to plan and prioritise assigned workload within given deadline.
• Attending meetings to note the VFX requirements in conjunction with Level Director.
• Undertake relevant on-the-job training where required.

Skills Required:
• Real Time Gameplay VFX Portfolio and Art Test.
• Knowledge of game engines such as Unreal and Unity.
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Effective time management skills to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
• Good working knowledge and proficiency of a 3D application, preferably Maya.
• Strong Photoshop editing skills for creating texture effects for use with the particle systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of VFX art principals, timing and lighting.
• Understanding of Shaders and Rendering Pipeline as it relates to VFX.
• Practical and methodical approach to both technical and creative problem-solving.
• Highly self-motivated and show initiative.
• Ability and willingness to accept and follow direction and to collaborate productively with others.
• Exceptional eye for detail and drive for quality.

Additional but not essential
• Niagara or Cascade experience and working examples is a huge pro.
• Experience and examples of fluid simulations using Maya or FumeFX.
• A solid gamer, you will make games look cool with vfx…. and then play more games to make games to play games.
Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
