Job Description
WHO WE ARE

Vox Media's Revenue organization handles advertising and marketing partnerships with brands and agencies, as well as lines of business in consumer revenue and commerce across the organization.

Vox Media is the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what's now, what's next, and what's possible.

As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.

As a critical member of the Consumer Revenue department, you'll manage our essential email communications to non-subscribers and subscribers of New York Magazine. You will be responsible for audience engagement, and driving conversions to New York subscriptions through email. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Lifecycle and Retention Marketing and will develop and execute on lifecycle strategies.

You will work closely with the Growth, Design, Newsletter, Product/Dev, and Analytics teams to optimize email campaigns, analyze performance, increase understanding of audiences and manage the email calendar. Candidates should have experience in A/B testing, staging and deployment, and managing and refining automated campaigns.

E-commerce is always looking for top talent and we want to connect with candidates throughout the year. The current job post is an evergreen position and not an active position. The E-Commerce team is using this post as a way to source and field top candidates.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Leading the end-to-end management of our subscription email program, you will use audience insights and data to develop high impact email marketing campaigns to drive user acquisition, engagement, and subscriber retention.
• Support customer retention journeys, including our renewal, billing, and transactional messaging moments. You will monitor the learnings of our campaigns that inform stronger tactics for retaining subscribers during their most vulnerable periods.
• Support acquisition campaign moments such as editorial launches of new content packages, seasonal sales, and ongoing direct response efforts.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to create compelling email content and designs that aligns with the brand and marketing objectives. Your email campaign plans will establish messaging, targeting, testing, and performance measurement needs.
• QA outgoing email campaigns for the proper image-to-text ratio, image-sizing, font-sizing, device-rendering, and segmentation.
• A/B test email content, designs, and subject lines to continually improve campaign performance and identify best practices.
• Monitor, track, and report on all marketing campaign performance (open rates, CTR, subscription conversions, opt out rates, etc.) You will provide analyses of email campaigns and recommendations for enhancing their effectiveness.
• Maintain list health and integration with other vendors.
• Partner with Newsletter, Product, Analytics, and CX teams to gather and distill feedback on pain points, errors, and improvements to our journeys on a regular basis.

WHO YOU ARE
• 3+ years of experience managing manual and automated email campaigns, user segmentation, marketing calendars, and testing schedules.
• Bachelor degree preferred, preferably in marketing or related field.
• Proven experience using Sailthru (or another email service platform) and knowledge of email best practices, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA.
• Strong understanding of email marketing best practices, including segmentation, personalization, automated drip sequences, triggered emails, and automation.
• Strong analytical skills (particularly with Excel / Google Sheets, Google Analytics) and the ability to leverage data for insights and action.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ease communicating across teams and different levels within a large organization
• Strong organizational and project management skills and detail oriented.
• Ability to work, coordinate, and build relationships with multiple stakeholders
• Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or Canva is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS specifically as it pertains to coding email templates is a plus.
