Job Description
The Vice President of Business Development is a strategic sales and partnership marketing leader with stewardship over new corporate partner sales and business development operations for the Utah Jazz, Utah Hockey Club, and Delta Center. The Vice President will lead, coach, and work with the Director of Business Development and Director of Sales Operations and Enablement and their teams of Account Executives, Business Development Specialists, Operations Managers, and Coordinators to achieve department sales goals. This leader will collaborate with the Head of Business Development to create and implement new business and employee growth strategies that drive department KPI's and facilitate a culture of sales and employee success.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Exemplify the Smith Entertainment Group values of being scrappy, all-in, transparent, working as one team, and being community-obsessed
• Coach, train, and develop Business Development team members, fostering a culture of continuous growth, learning, teamwork, and sales success
• Lead the Business Development team in their sales process by taking an active role in working with Directors, Account Executives, and Business Development Specialists to identify prospective partners, host and entertain clients, develop and pitch new partnership packages, negotiate, and close new business
• Play a critical role in driving innovation and creativity in the research, ideation, development, and pitching of sports partnership assets and campaigns to local, regional, and national advertisers
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of initiatives that improve the sales operations and enablement processes of the Business Development department
• Develop authentic and collaborative relationships with internal leaders and their departments, such as Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, and Finance; ensuring Business Development objectives and efforts are properly aligned and in harmony with company wide efforts and strategies
• Showcase and develop expertise as an industry leader in partnership marketing, displaying a high level acumen and understanding of corporate partnership sales, sports partnerships, sports marketing, partnership integration strategies, and partnership asset creation
• Provide leadership and support to team members working at Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club games, maximizing opportunities to host, network, and development authentic relationships with members of the business community and employees at NBA and NHL games
• Demonstrate an undeterred effort to innovate, regularly looking for opportunities to implement new tools and technology into the business development process, while inspiring team members and counterparts to do the same
• Manage and strategically deploy department budgets, working to maximize department resources to achieve new business sales goals

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 8+ years of combined experience in partnership marketing, partnership sales, advertising sales, media sales, or other relatable business development capacities
• 5+ years of successfully building, managing, and growing employees and teams
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule as sporting events may require, including extended days and hours, holidays, and weekends
• Proficient in the use of customer relationship management systems and google workspace
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred

• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.

• This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
