Job Description
An exciting opportunity to join the Theatrical Dubbing Team on a 12-month fixed-term basis, to cover maternity leave, within Universal Pictures International. The team sits within the Theatrical Operations Department and covers dubbing worldwide for Universal Pictures International, DreamWorks and Illumination.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Director of Theatrical Dubbing, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction of our dubbing process for theatrical releases, partnering closely with the VP of Dubbing you will be part of a team who oversee the end-to-end dubbing process for theatrical content, ensuring the highest quality standards and operational efficiency
You will foster key relationships across departments and ensure seamless execution from dubbing greenlight through to the final print master delivery. This role requires leadership in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with legal and technical standards. Your role will be instrumental in working with the VP of Dubbing to shape and execute dubbing strategies while driving excellence in delivery standards.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Vendor and Partner Management: Maintain strong, relationships with external vendors, ensuring efficient project execution from booking jobs to the final delivery, while overseeing project timelines across international teams.
• Team Oversight: Mentor for the wider dubbing team, providing guidance and support to ensure team success. Foster a collaborative and proactive work environment that drives high performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a primary liaison between internal teams (Content Security and Theatrical Operations) and international partners, ensuring smooth communication and alignment on all aspects of dubbing for theatrical releases.
• Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end management of all assigned dubbing projects from initial greenlight to delivery of print masters ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and according to budget constraints. ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with international theatrical teams.
• Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify, assess, and resolve potential legal, translation, or clearance issues, providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders as needed. Escalate concerns to senior leadership as appropriate.
• Innovation and Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in dubbing processes, implementing and streamlining new workflows and best practices that enhance efficiency, and improve quality. Optimise internal systems, such as Smartsheet to monitor project status and anticipate challenges.
• Content Security and Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to content security protocols and legal requirements, managing sensitive materials and overseeing compliance on all dubbing-related activities. Act as the primary point of contact for the Content Security team regarding dubbing issues, facilitate effective decision-making and issue resolution. Ensure adherence to content security protocols, intellectual property standards, and legal requirements, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
• Executive Reporting: Provide detailed reports to the VP of Dubbing and senior leadership as required on the status of major projects and key challenges.
• Ad Hoc Projects & Strategic Initiatives: Lead and execute special projects, strategic initiatives, and process improvements, identifying areas that support the growth and evolution of the dubbing function.
• Departmental Support: Provide operational support and strategic input to the VP of Dubbing and assist in departmental decision-making processes, ensuring team objectives align with organisational goals. Step in as acting lead during the VP's absence.
Qualifications

Experience & Skills:
Essential:
• Extensive experience in Theatrical Operations, Media or Localisation, with a deep understanding of dubbing processes, and strong technical knowledge of industry terminology.
• Advanced proficiency in Smartsheet or similar project management tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives and external stakeholders at the highest level.
• Ability to manage complex, high-pressure projects while balancing multiple priorities and delivering results under tight deadlines
• Demonstrated success in managing project timelines, and operational workflows.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale, global dubbing projects working with international teams.
• Sharp analytical skills, with the ability to assess project risks, navigate legal and content security challenges, and make informed decisions.
• High degree of adaptability and flexibility to meet changing business demands.
• Comfortable with PC-based operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable:
• Fluency in a second language is a plus especially in regions where dubbing is critical to the business, but not essential
