Job Description
The Director, Global Controllership serves as an integral position on the Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) Global Controllership team, reporting to the VP, Global Controller. This role will be responsible for the oversight of the global transactional digital and physical home entertainment business. The ideal candidate will have a controllership background with strong technical skills and familiarity with owning and managing large and complex financial statements. Responsibilities for this role include the monthly and quarterly financial close process, evaluation and adherence to accounting policies and procedures, and integration of the international transactional digital business into UPHE. Additional responsibilities include coaching and developing 2 direct reports and collaborating with UPHE FP&A, UPHE Commercial Analytics, UPHE Digital Ops, Studio Group Controllership, and Global Financial Operations (GFO) team.
Responsibilities:
• Integrate International digital business into Home Entertainment
• Evaluate, improve and align Domestic and International transactional digital processes
• Support and partner with digital business operations on distribution deal negotiation and maintenance
• Manage and review quarterly balance sheet and variance analyses
• Support future SAP S/4 implementation
• Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and reduce risk
• Facilitate and support both internal and external audit requests
• Manage ad hoc requests from senior leadership as needed
• Lead and motivate direct reports and a broader staff though leadership, coaching, career development, and performance management
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Accounting-related experience. Combination of public accounting and entertainment industry preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a people management capacity
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Characteristics:
• CPA highly preferred
• Experience with SAP/S4 and AOE preferred
• Excellent organizational skills, and proven ability to multi-task and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Ability to work in fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Solid interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across various organizational levels
• Team player with demonstrated ability to motivate and lead multiple team members
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
