Job Description

Universal Music Group is looking for a Music Curator to join the Music Strategy and Tactics team. The MS&A team is led by professionals with music strategy, curation, and data backgrounds.

The perfect candidate is an expert in all genres but especially in Pop / Hits music. They are comfortable in navigating Pop Music and pop culture and their influence on it. They are clear and concise on communicating their editorial strategies and confident in supporting that strategy with strong performance data. They have a passion for music streaming, technology developments, and a purpose to share music while growing a global audience.

They will be responsible for curation, editorial, and strategic output on streaming services in their designated genre area while meeting editorial standards and UMG business goals.

How you’ll CREATE:
• Work cross functionally with UMG internal stakeholders, label teams, and artists
• Create playlist hypotheses and advanced curation strategies
• Analyze and produce performance data to support further optimization strategy
• Develop and execute streaming strategy for all streaming platforms
• Act as main liaison with key opinion leaders on strategy
• Deliver data-driven recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner

Bring your VIBE:
• Experience curating music in an editorial/programming role in music and/or radio
• Experience managing a workflow, strategy, and analysis within internal teams
• Knowledgeable, passionate, and curious about Pop / Hit Music
• Have an interest in data and statistics
• Must be creative and in touch within the pop culture
• Aware of Industry/Technology trends
• Deep understanding of digital content and all streaming platforms including but not limited to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Pandora, Soundcloud, etc.
• Familiarity with streaming analytics tools, along with the ability to use them effectively in analyses
• Ability to visualize data using PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.
• Comfortable walking through analysis and communicating findings to executives and/or a broader audience
• Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines
• A strong reputation and a good network within the music industry/community
• Self-motivated
• Design Skills a plus
• Ability to build relationships across business units, work well in a collaborative team environment
• Bachelor’s in Business, Economics, Music, Communication or other quantitative degree preferred
