Ubisoft Bordeaux

Founded in 2017, Ubisoft Bordeaux works with passion on the biggest AAA titles to deliver the best gaming experiences. Today, the studio is composed of 400 talents from 20 different nationalities, working on licenses such as Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and a free to play game, BattleCore Arena. At the same time, the studio has set up a Tech branch which works on all Ubisoft's online services (named Online Services) as well as on the Anvil game engine. Ubisoft Bordeaux is also home to a R&D team, La Forge, which brings together engineers and researchers to work together on prototypes for game production, particularly around AI topics.

Job Description

As Narrative Director on a project not announced yet, you will be responsible for establishing and driving the development of the overall story, characters and settings together with other colleagues.

As this role involves close collaborations, you will engage with all teams to support defining how the story is integrated. You will explore new ways to deliver unique, rich, and exciting stories, defining the narrative vision and how we communicate our worlds and stories to players.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in defining, establishing and communicating the narrative direction for the game both internally and externally
• Build a robust understanding of our game world, characters and lore, serving as a key resource for others on the team
• Ensure alignment with creative vision when developing the main characters and vital narrative elements from the conception phase to the release of the game
• Guide the ideation process to develop storylines, characters, and narrative systems
• Collaborate with the different teams (level designers, game designers, artists, animators, audio designers, etc.) to ensure that all the narrative elements are correctly integrated
• Ensure the quality of the script, scene-breakdowns, and final edits of the scenes and cinematics
• Support the narrative strategy and ensure its constant communication to the development team and the project's stakeholders
• Be a key stakeholder in casting and recordings

Qualifications

As a Director, you are enthusiastic about quality, innovation, and achieving a highly impactful and memorable player experience. You excel at communicating your vision to various stakeholders and leading strategic efforts with your team. Your team leadership experience equips you to navigate through challenges, provide constructive feedback, and streamline workflows.
• Experience in at least one full AAA videogame production as Narrative Director
• Professional experience in supervising/directing a team
• Capacity to clearly articulate and communicate vision and strategy
• Advanced level in Storytelling and Narrative Design
• A strong understanding of narrative-related pipelines
• Passionate about storytelling and good knowledge of video game industry
