Job Description

What you'll do as a Motion Capture Technician at Ubisoft Toronto:
• Assist Mocap shoot team on capture projects (calibration, marker set, props, props rigging, etc.).
• Suit and marker up motion capture talent.
• Maintain and use complex computer systems and camera hardware to capture human/animal performances.
• Assist actors when filming.
• Process data in Vicon Shogun when filming.
• Validate the data quality in Shogun and MotionBuilder.
• Assist the data team with post processing when required.
• Prepare, maintain, and repair studio equipment.
• Fit and assist performers with head-mounted cameras.
• Assist Mocap with ongoing R&D projects.
• Setup, maintain and capture using our 3D scanning systems when required.
• Assisting props department with props and sets.
• Carry out all other related tasks surrounding day to day maintenance and studio upkeep.

Qualifications

• Motion capture experience including: Vicon camera systems (Vantage, MX series), data post processing (Shogun, Blade), retargeting (Motionbuilder) [Optitrack, Qualysis, Giant, Xsens also acceptable]
• Production environment or on-set experience (Film, Television, Performance Capture)
• Facial capture experience including: Technoprops head mounted cameras, Faceform, Wrap4D, Faceware, Facegood, ARkit.
• Video and camera system experience including timecode and genlock of multiple sources.
• Deep understanding of personal computers, operating systems, networking.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Some knowledge programming languages (Python, C#, C++) would be an asset.
• Experience with hand tools.
• Autonomous and resourceful.
• Ability to take initiative.
• Attention to detail.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
