Technical Artist - Treyarch (Los Angeles)

Treyarch is looking for a highly motivated Technical Artist with a passion for high-quality content creation, who can think outside the box, and can create optimal pipeline and optimization tools specializing in one or more areas of content development. The ideal candidate will be one who thrives in a collaborative, team environment.
Our team is a multidisciplinary group serving as a bridge between art, design, and engineering. This role will be primarily focused on the weapon rigging and integration pipeline. We provide our teams with effective implementation tools, complex assets templates, and final content which must not only meet the high-quality standard but also be optimized to be as efficient as possible. Our team is also responsible for analyzing content performance, advise on, and provide processes to ensure the final content runs at the expected frame rate.

What you'll do...
• Work with an established proprietary rigging and animation system with an emphasis on weapon rigging and pipeline support.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of Coders, Artist and Technical Artist cultivating a positive team dynamic.
• Work quickly and effectively to support content creators.
• Skeleton creation, high quality realistic skin weighting, and animation rig creation.
• Controller creation and support.
• Maintain, contribute, and improve on existing proprietary python tools, code base and systems.

To succeed you should have…
• 3+ years' experience in technical art or animation roles.
• Professional or personal experience working with real time game engines.
• Proficiency in building skeletons, skinning and rigging in Maya.
• A good understanding of proprietary engine and related tools.
• Strong artistic skills and working knowledge of 3D art production.
• Solid understanding of Python tool and pipeline development.
• The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the development team.
• Strong problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
• Must be flexible and comfortable with prototyping and quick iteration.
• An adaptable and continuous learner mindset.

We'd love it if you also have…
• A CS or Technical Art Degree.
• Basic knowledge of weapon mechanics and similar mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of real-time physics and ragdolls, pre-baked simulation, or shader creation.
• CPU and GPU performance profiling experience.

In the US, the standard base pay range for this role is $29.81 - $55.14 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all US locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
