This role can be remote in France, UK or Poland, but we cannot accept any applications from outside of these regions
The Role
The rigger will collaborate closely with our CG Supervisors, VFX Supervisors, Animation Leads, and other fellow artists and Production to create high-quality rigs for Game Cinematics and Commercial VFX projects. Assets will range from advanced characters/creatures to props and vehicles. Candidates should be ready to learn and implement The Mill's existing rigging pipeline while introducing innovation to the pipeline when opportunities arise. This includes scripting and creating new rigging plugins. The rigger will collaborate with Mill artists and supervisors globally, primarily working on LA projects with LA Supervisors and interacting with the Mill teams in India.
Experience working with real-time engines is highly desirable, specifically in Unreal Engine, Unity, and Frostbite.

Responsibilities:
• Work efficiently and navigate a fast-paced environment
• Required to rig advanced characters, props, vehicles in Maya and assist other members of the rigging team.
• Work with the animation department to ensure that the rigs provide the necessary controls
• Participate in meetings with the global rigging teams whenever necessary
• Ensure smooth operation of our rigging pipeline, maintaining existing technology, integrating, and exploring new rigging technologies.
• Develop effective scripts and plugins for the rigging department.
• Collaborate with Directors, Creative Directors, CG Supervisors, VFX Supervisors, and HODs to ensure that all work being delivered meets high level expectations and specific project needs.
Qualifications
• 5+ years experience minimum
• Must be a proactive and self-driven creative problem solver
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must demonstrate proficient rigging skills in their portfolio
• Expert understanding of anatomy, muscle/skeletal structure and locomotion
• Proficiency in Python, MEL, C++, Maya API and creating plugins.
• Familiarity or proficiency with rigging muscle systems in Maya, Ziva, Houdini, or others
• Ability to research and develop new deformation approaches, advanced methods to create rigs, and enhance existing Maya toolsets using Python and Maya API.
• Willingness to learn and grow, with strong time and project management skills.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems knowledge
