Job Description:
The Executive Producer (EP) is a senior leadership role within The Mill, encompassing both client-facing and internal responsibilities. This role is pivotal in identifying, developing, and converting opportunities with both new and existing clients, aiming to build long-term strategic partnerships with agencies, production companies, and brands.
The EP acts as a key ambassador for The Mill, confidently articulating its vision and services. They collaborate with the New Business and Marketing teams, as well as other service lines, to devise strategies, identify business opportunities, and form partnerships that align with client and market needs. A strong negotiator, the EP focuses on pitching and securing work alongside Creative Directors and other specialists, tailored to meet the requirements of each brief.
Internally, the VFX EP oversees production, working closely with producers and creatives to deliver outstanding work. Leveraging The Mill's world-class talent, global infrastructure, and cutting-edge technology, the EP ensures seamless collaboration to provide innovative, impactful solutions. Additionally, they are responsible for strategic client relationship management, overall project profitability, and fostering team growth through mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Business Development
• Sales and Client Management:
• Manage UK sales and projects efficiently, utilizing tools like Hubspot .
• Triage, assess, and validate client briefs, engaging Creative teams only when briefs are realistic and actionable.
• Build senior-level client relationships for key strategic accounts, driving revenue individually and through team efforts.
• Cultivate long-term partnerships with agencies, production companies, and brands, fostering trust and collaboration.
• Identify and onboard new clients who currently do not work with The Mill, expanding the client base.
• Work collaboratively to develop creative production solutions in response to briefs, ensuring exceptional creative standards.
• Pitching and Strategy:
• Collaborate with Creative Directors and teams to pitch and win projects.
• Track and analyze pitch conversion data, applying insights to improve success rates.
• Drive strategies for client retention and organic growth, nurturing relationships with existing and lapsed clients.
Production Leadership
• Project Oversight:
• Supervise VFX production, working closely with producers and creatives to ensure the delivery of world-class content.
• Monitor budgets and profitability across projects, serving as the escalation point for client concerns.
• Support producers in managing projects effectively while encouraging autonomy in day-to-day operations.
• Ensure team members maintain project budgets and schedules, stepping in as needed for critical issues.
• Mentorship:
• Share established client relationships with junior team members, enabling their growth and encouraging them to build strong client bases.
• Provide guidance for navigating complex situations and client conversations.
Strategic Vision
• Maintain a deep understanding of The Mill's vision and full suite of services, ensuring the right talent and resources are allocated to each project.
• Stay informed on trends in the global content ecosystem, with a strong appreciation for emerging technologies like AI.
Qualifications
• A comprehensive understanding of production processes, including VFX, 2D executions, CG, grading, and design.
• Ideally, 8+ years of experience in production, with exposure to international clients.
• Strong presentation, negotiation, and client management skills.
• Awareness of the rapidly evolving global content ecosystem and advertising market.
• A passion for emerging technologies and their application in creative production.
Success Metrics & KPIs
• Meeting revenue targets for VFX and contributing to the wider business across all service lines.
• Expanding the client base by onboarding new brands , agencies, and production companies.
• Driving organic growth and increasing project opportunities with existing and lapsed clients.
