Weekend Anchor / Multi-Skilled Journalist

Job Description

WOI-TV Local5 is looking for an engaging and innovative journalist to join our team as an Anchor/Multi-Skilled Journalist. We are seeking a dynamic personality, passionate storyteller, and team player, who knows how to connect with the community.
Our ideal candidate is a digitally savvy team member who can reach our audience on all platforms. They will also have strong writing skills and comfort on camera. A producing skill-set is a plus. In this role you will establish sources, own breaking news, and pitch enterprise ideas. You will be expected to establish and maintain social media accounts and grow them with guidance from our digital team.

Responsibilities:
• Conversational anchor skills, ability to adlib with ease and connect with audiences through professionalism and personality
• Covers day of news or special project assignments
• Develop story ideas, write, shoot and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting
• Write in a captivating, conversational, and authentic manner
• Producing is a plus and assigned as needed
• Write for digital, including attaching images and streaming video
• Engage with audience on all relevant social media platforms
• Represents station at public events

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Past anchoring experience encouraged
• Past MSJ/reporting experience required
• Experience with Edius and ENPS a plus
• Strong journalistic ethics
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and work a flexible schedule
• Degree in Journalism or related field
• Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
• Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
