Job Description

Are you passionate about media and news? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a knack for organization? The NBC Studios in DFW, the house of NBC5 and Telemundo39, is looking for a dynamic and experienced MOC Operator to join our team. As a MOC Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless storage, retrieval, management of our valuable media assets and signal acquisition and distribution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with creative professionals to deliver high-quality content to our audience.

General Responsibilities:
• Handle day-to-day management of digital media including the protection and purging of files in our media asset management system
• Ingest feeds, transfer file-based media and set up protected and private files in a media asset management system
• Record events in the Scheduler: identifying material by slug in rundown.
• Create and manage recurring events
• Communicate information about recordings to the Newsroom using various tools. Slack, email, teams.
• Camera shading of studio cameras during live and recorded shows.
• Setting up and shading good background shots using tower cams located throughout the DFW area.
• Quality Control of everything for air. This includes Live Shots, recorded promos, and shows.
• Troubleshoot issues with live shots with photographer to get the best possible look.
• Provide frontline support for DFW Digital Media and Operations
• Service multiple internal clients using a customer service approach

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with non-linear editing and/or Media Asset Management systems
• Experience with Live signal acquisition (Dejero, Live U, Microwave, Satellite & IP Streams)
• Experience working in a broadcast and/or digital newsroom environment (iNews, Dalet, DINA)
• Working knowledge of the post-production process from media acquisition to playback for air
• Experience working with digital media file formats, such as MXF, .MOV, DV, .MPEG, and file conversion.
• Basic knowledge of cameras. Iris, black level, focus, white balance
• Customer Service approach when dealing with other departments.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Ft. Worth, TX just south of DFW Airport
• Must have a flexible schedule with willingness to work overtime or any other time the job requires. This includes holidays, weekends, early mornings, late nights, or on short notice
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must accept Solutions, NBCUniversal's Dispute Resolution Program

Desired:
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Information Technology, Media Management, Broadcast Engineering or related experience preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish / English) highly desirable
• Knowledge of the Adobe Premiere Pro
• Understanding of HD file formats, broadcast video playback systems, media archival systems
• Knowledge of using web scan solutions for zoom interviews and web conferences.
• Technical aptitude and with a desire to learn
• Process and detail oriented
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to quickly understand and size up opportunity and/or problems and respond with creative ideas and solutions
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high pressure, breaking news environment
• Make priority decisions under deadlines
