Who are we hiring?
MSG Sphere is looking for a cloud engineer to join the Core Tech team under the Director of Studio Services. In this role, you will support a growing and diversifying set of ground-breaking productions; developing and integrating services to automate and optimize production workflows from capture to playback.

The extreme level of integration between disciplines requires a balanced, creative, agile approach to be successful; being able to prioritize, communicate, and see the bigger picture are required skills.
Candidates must have a proven history of managing and deploying stateful services in cloud environments, as well as monitoring and optimizing their resource usage, for high-end VFX or other areas of post-production, to provide the foundation for a stable, well documented, and maintainable pipeline ecosystem.
What will you do?
• Help develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain Core Tech services and databases
• Create integrations between services to propagate information to where it is needed
• Directly collaborate with pipeline engineers, end users, and stakeholders to advise on scalable and secure solutions to address problems, from proof-of-concept to deployment
• Monitor and maintain cloud service architecture and resource utilization
• Collect and present service data and metrics in a user-friendly manner to drive business decisions
• Adhere to industry-standard conventions for coding and documentation
• Identify potential optimizations or newer solutions to existing pipeline services and solutions
• Define and implement efficient and secure development processes and deployment procedures
What do you need to succeed?
• 4 years' minimum experience with deploying and maintaining cloud services and resources
• Strong experience writing pipeline services for a VFX, post, or animation facility
• Strong understanding of software development best practices (testing, version management, etc.)
• Strong experience in all major OS (Linux, Windows, MacOS)
• Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and general container-based application development
• Proven experience with cloud platforms; AWS and GCP a plus
• Strong experience developing and using infrastructure-as-code (IAC) resource provisioning tools (Terraform, CDK, Palumi, etc.)
• Strong development experience with Python
• Strong experience with common CI/CD tools/workflows (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, etc.)
• Experience with version control tools like Git
• Experience with Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid) a plus
• Experience with ASWF's Rez package management a plus
• Experience with Deadline (or similar render manager) a plus
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines
• Good problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
• Ability to collaborate with team members across different disciplines, including directly interfacing with stakeholders, to understand requirements

• Special projects may require occasional travel and non-standard work hours
Pay Range
$125,000 - $160,000 USD
