Sony Pictures Classics is a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment that recently celebrated its 30th anniversary year. SPC distributes, produces and acquires independent films, animated films and documentaries from the United States and around the world.
The Marketing & Publicity department of Sony Pictures Classics is seeking a talented Coordinator to join the team. The job responsibilities include:
• Organize the delivery of all materials received from Production.
• Review stills and work with co-presidents and approving parties to establish a core set.
• Create promotional clips for an entire film and then narrow down a selection for approving parties.
• Maintain a press website for each film with the necessary promotional materials.
• Preserve an archive of all materials used in the marketing of each film.
• Keep in constant contact with each film's publicist and fulfill their material needs.
• Act as point of contact for film festivals with the submission process and submit materials. o Watch B-roll and cast interviews for special featurette creation.
• Work with Legal and filmmakers for any needed clearances on unapproved material.
• Manage deadlines for materials needed by internal and external groups.
• Send out screener links to press and publicists
• Proofread press notes for clarity and spelling.
• Validate press members for screener access.
• Process invoices and allocate expenses to the appropriate film.
• Locate and curate materials from older library titles to the manager of non-theatrical sales and non-theatrical institutions.
• Perform minor edits and light photoshopping on final still set for promotional use
• Coordinate with the VP of Acquisitions and SVP of Post Production to submit materials for various awards
Qualifications and required skills include:
• Demonstrated passion for the independent film industry
• 1 - 2 years related experience
• Excel, Word, Adobe, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
• BA preferred
The anticipated base salary for this position is $25/hour to 27.50/hour. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
