Job Description
The Theatrical Marketing Division in Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Marketing to join their team.

Based in our Tokyo offices, in this role you will lead the Marketing team of Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) Japan to develop, localize & successfully execute the agreed marketing strategies for each Sony film.

You will also support delivery of both distribution plans and marketing release strategies that help to achieve and /or exceed the box office and revenue targets forecast.

Core Responsibilities Include:
• Providing marketing leadership that will inspire, challenge & unite the marketing team to deliver work & campaigns that is seen to be the most dynamic & effective in the film industry, ( from both a local & foreign perspective), and is achieved through a collective passion to make each Sony Pictures results the best they can be. This would include work across all the marketing disciplines of advertising, publicity & promotions and the incorporation of digital activations within all these areas.
• Manage the development of advertising/ media plans with the appointed Media Agency & ensure the most effective deployment of those plans always within the budget parameters.
• Have the ability to identify and exploit new and inventive digital strategies that can work across the traditional advertising, publicity and promotional facets of a film's releases, including social media strategies when appropriate.
• To explore & leverage the opportunities within the SONY group of companies including a focus on digital assets to profile our films whilst providing 'content' for other Sony companies. The synergy ethos of ''One Sony ''should be adopted by all.
• Play an integral role in the SPRI Japan Executive team (Managing Director & Sales Director) in assessing the Theatrical release slate, identifying the potential of each of those films & localizing these films to maximize their local Japanese appeal at the box office.

Candidate Requirements:

Education:
• Bachelor degree, Master degree, MBA

Experience:
• Typically more than 10 years of marketing experience in media, entertainment, FMCG, Telco or advertising industry with strong experience in planning and rolling out multi-media marketing campaigns.
• Experience in managerial positions leading marketing staff.

Knowledge of:

You will preferably have a thorough understanding of the entertainment or FMCG/retail businesses along with knowledge of new and innovative ways of marketing/promotion activities within these industries.
• Sound fundamentals in marketing strategy and implementation skills
• Thorough understanding of media planning and buying
• Promotional partnerships – brand, media, retail, and/or cinema promotions
• Knowledge of digital activations across core marketing disciplines of advertising, publicity and promotions.
• Knowledge or some insight and observations of Film marketing best practices.

Skill in:
• High analytical skills, strategic thinking and implementation skills
• Fluent Japanese with preferred strong English communication, presentation and negotiation skills in both verbal and written
• Flexible and creative with proactive attitude of seeking innovative ways of marketing/promotions
• Planning and organisational skills: The ability to plan ahead, be mindful of deadlines and manage a variety of projects at the same time. A good eye for detail required
• High organizational, people management and leadership skills
• Working with diverse personalities across external and internal stake-holders/clients in international environment
