The Role
Reporting to a senior member of the publicity team, the candidate for the role will coordinate successful publicity campaigns on a range of S&S Adult fiction and non-fiction titles. We are looking for either a Senior Press Officer or a Publicity Manager, depending on experience, to join our award-winning publicity team.
The role involves executing imaginative, effective and impactful publicity campaigns, working closely with the editorial, marketing, digital and sales teams to deliver fully integrated promotional plans.
A proven track record of leading and delivering inventive and strategic publicity campaigns across both traditional and digital media is essential, in addition to proven success in organising events and book tours, big and small. You will have an established network of media and event contacts and be able to hit the ground-running in a vibrant department.
A prowess for multi-tasking and innovative thinking is a must, as is exemplary organisational skills and an eye for detail, the ability to handle a variety of campaigns from debuts to brand authors, and the ability to juggle multiple campaigns at once.
Please note that for this role, flexibility is needed outside of core work hours, as it may require the occasional evening and weekend work. We would also prefer the candidate to be in the office at least three days a week.
Key Responsibilities
To plan and implement strategic, sales-driven publicity campaigns for titles across Simon & Schuster's adult publishing list (fiction and non-fiction)
• Securing print, broadcast and online coverage, as well as managing event appearances and book launches
• Providing exceptional author care and maintaining relationships with agents, press and event contacts
• Works with editorial, marketing and sales teams to devise strategic, impactful campaigns that lead to book sales and retailer support
• Creates innovative and successful PR campaigns that see widespread coverage across print, broadcast and online platforms
• Controls author schedules, travel, accommodation and plans events/book launches
• Manage publicity budgets for titles
• Provides exceptional author/agent care
• Manages and builds relationships with press/media contacts
• Reports all publicity coverage to interested parties and ensures strong in-house communication
