The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking an innovative, collaborative and dynamic leader to navigate the ever-changing programming landscape on behalf of the company. This role will be responsible for content assessment, valuation, negotiation and performance metrics for films, television series, live events and news adjacent programming licensed from major and independent movie studios and television producers, worldwide, for Scripps Networks.
*Remote work arrangement with preferred locations of Los Angeles, NYC and Atlanta, GA*
What You'll Do:
• Manage all facets of programming and staff, including supervision of network content and schedules, program acquisitions, original programming, streaming content, program planning and standards and practices.
• Work in close partnership and constant collaboration with ad sales, distribution, finance, research, marketing, legal and other relevant stakeholders.
• Analyze all relevant linear and streaming audience data to inform overall programming strategy and real-time execution.
• Partner with Local Media leadership on the content strategy for local needs.
• Partner closely with Scripps Sports leadership to execute a programming strategy that supports new and existing sports programming.
• Lead all content sales and licensing initiatives with domestic and international partners.
• Responsible for maintaining a strong pipeline of new content opportunities and sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and executing all phases of the licensing of product for exhibition.
• Continuously brainstorm and identify new content-based business opportunities and potential partners to drive audience acquisition, retention, growth and engagement.
• Focus on the professional development of the programming team and foster a strong team culture.
What You'll Need:
• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience
• 20+ years' experience in broad range of programming activities, including strategic planning, developing originals, acquiring content and scheduling for major television networks.
What You'll Bring:
• Deep insight into television and multi-platform viewing habits and evolving media consumption patterns.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proven success using data and metrics to inform content development and programming strategies.
• Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and the ability to react quickly, dynamically, and intelligently.
• Solid negotiation skills along with knowledge of market license fees and related deal terms to support the negotiation of favorable content rights to improve performance and revenue.
• Solid understanding of the OTT and ''television'' content landscape.
• Familiarity with traditional and digital audience data and reporting tools.
• Ability to work with research to concisely communicate content performance to all internal stakeholders.
• Understanding of complex licensing, co-production and/or business development agreements.
• Ability to navigate computer systems and complex legal agreements.
• Prior significant financial responsibility and proven budgeting acumen. Ability to collaborate with finance in determining impact of programming decisions.
• Strategic thinker with an eye towards the long term while acutely focusing on achieving short term goals.
• Awareness of market trends, competitors' offerings and new business opportunities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas.
• Strong, positive industry relationships, experience and credibility with content studios, producers and providers.

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $300,000.00 - $350,000.00
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in California.
