Job Description
The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring for a Master Control Lead Engineer. They will be responsible for performing master control operator duties including monitoring multiple programming sources for several stations. Support the master control hub staff on shift; includes communicating and helping to implement updated procedures, overseeing and coordinating workflow, and answering task related questions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Apply expert knowledge of all functions and responsibilities of television Master Control Operation in supporting Master Control staff on assigned shift.
• Schedule, track, execute and practice staff disaster recover procedures.
• Train staff in HUB related technologies and procedures.
• Monitor several programming sources simultaneously.
• Manage several live program logs to ensure accuracy.
• Monitor various levels and signals from multiple television sites.
• Perform quality assurance checks as required.
• Ensure the correct spots air during programming and note any discrepancies.
• Make judgment calls, when necessary, with business implications in mind.
• Foster a customer service approach with Hub client stations.
• When issues arise, problem solve, and then quickly take corrective action as necessary.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
• Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Experience with automation systems and related equipment
• Knowledge of video servers, the routing process and related equipment
• Understanding of transmitter parameters
• Expert knowledge of the duties of a master control operator
• Working knowledge of a centralized, remotely controlled (HUB) environment is needed
• Ability to successfully execute multiple tasks, in a fast paced environment, with precision and accuracy
• Working knowledge of the departments within a television station
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle pressure in an on-air environment
• Able to perform under exact deadlines
• Good communications skills across all shifts and departments
• Ability to work independently
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Strong mathematical skills
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and on weekends with short notice
• Must be self-motivated, thorough, reliable and willing to work as a team performer

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Work hours are in accordance to a 24/7/365 job environment
• Schedule may include weekends, evenings and overnights
