Job Description
The Operations Manager is responsible for providing direction, coordination, and evaluation to the Overnight Changeover Utility Crew at Golden 1 Center. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including staff management, work assignment, and conflict resolution.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Direct, supervise, and schedule crews
• Determine staffing requirements and prepare staff schedules for events
• Review and monitor the budget to ensure efficient operations within limitations
• Ensure compliance with union contracts, state, and federal regulations
• Maintain facility equipment inventory and oversee preventative maintenance
• Ensure all safety protocols, codes, and emergency procedures are followed
• Develop and implement training programs for Fire/Life Safety, Emergency, and OSHA procedures
• Investigate and resolve operational problems and complaints
• Assist with emergency procedures and risk management policies
• Ensure the facility's safety systems are operational and code-compliant
• Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Manage supervisors, foremen, and crew leaders
• Interview, hire, and train employees
• Plan, assign, and direct work activities
• Conduct performance appraisals
• Handle disciplinary actions by HR policies and union contracts
• Address and resolve employee complaints and grievances
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or 3-4 years relevant experience (or equivalent combination)
• Minimum 4 years' facility management experience, preferably in a union environment
• Knowledge of event setup, conversions, facility maintenance, and proper tool usage
• Experience with arena changeovers, labor relations, union contracts, and purchasing procedures
• Ability to work from instructions, blueprints, and event documents
• Ability to oversee safety programs with emphasis on compliance
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and time-keeping systems; CAD experience preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
• Must be adaptable to a fast-paced environment and changing situations
• Must be able to work extended and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Work Schedule:
• Position is responsible for overnight, changeover coverage, frequently starting around 9 pm and working until the next crew arrives in the morning
• Schedules at Golden 1 Center are non-traditional and based on event schedules for games and concerts
Physical Demands:
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, and communicate verbally
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Requires close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
• Noise levels range from moderate to very loud, depending on events and location
Compensation:
The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $70,000 - $75,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the offer range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
