Rolling Stone: Director, Project Management
Rolling Stone is seeking a Director of Project Management to oversee the business side execution team within our Brand Partnerships & Marketing group. This seasoned leader will set the tone by initiating creative thought, bringing vision to how we succeed in our most ambitious efforts, and providing best-in-class customer service across multifaceted music and entertainment-based programs. This lead will work closely with internal creative marketing and content studio teams, along with Rolling Stone's editorial departments to cultivate rich storytelling across content, events, and digital media. The team is expected to flawlessly execute partner programs through the management of client and internal communications, timelines, budgets, strategy and problem solving into all sold programs.
Our ideal candidate has managed a team executing a variety of digital, social, print, branded content and experiential brand campaigns, has exceptional leadership skills and thrives working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects daily. The candidate must understand publishing industry content & event programs, with a history of supporting advertising sales & partnerships teams with a common goal of achieving established revenue targets. This position reports directly to the Publisher of Rolling Stone.
Responsibilities:
• Lead team managing a range of high-touch programs, from $250k upwards of $3MM+, that make up Rolling Stone's direct partnerships & sponsorships business
• Collaborate with the Creative Marketing team to ensure alignment in the idea and build with a clear path to production
• Responsible for team's execution of all elements of sold programs, including timelines, budgets, creative executions and follow-up on all deliverables, adhering to profitability goals and annual revenue targets
• Implement a culture of high-touch creative client services; guide partners through program execution, lean on Rolling Stone's authority & expertise, show clear understanding of brand priorities and cater to the personalities or working styles of our brand counterparts.
• Directly responsible for client and agency communications across programs including branded video / written features / live editorial tentpole events / live branded and custom events / virtual events / social / in-book advertorials and more
• Lead all client calls and presentations throughout the duration of each program
• Develop relationships with clients that play a key role in renewal of business
• Manage team of project managers, develop junior level talent and meet or exceed quality of work expectations
• Provide insights to pre-sale and branded content teams during weekly team updates
• Communicate contract terms with Legal Team to facilitate client, talent, vendor and contributor agreements
• Identify creative solutions for tight P&Ls across all sold programs – be a resource within post-sale team
• Liaise across Brand Partnerships, Editorial, Account Management, Product, Social, Branded Content, etc. to maintain best-in-class project management practices
• Oversee materials related to sold programs including deal point memos, profit and loss statements, contracts and program recaps/case studies
Requirements:
• Minimum 12 years of experience in digital, publishing or other media marketing
• Minimum 5 years experience managing a marketing team
• Experience managing campaign P&Ls relative to overall brand goals
• Deep knowledge of the publishing & advertising industry standards and best practices
• Liaising with Legal, Finance to review and approve campaign details
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills - delivers information in a clear and concise manner
• Team-oriented – flexible taking on tasks outside of standard scope of work, helpful and able to work well with others, act as player-coach within the team, being both manager and individual contributor
• Passion for music and entertainment marketing
• Familiarity with multiple media and social platforms
• Video production experience a plus
• Keynote experience is a plus
• Salesforce experience is a plus
• Experience in digital, video and branded content
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced work environment
Typical wage range: $150,000 - $170,000
Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
