Job Description
The Insights discipline helps empower Rioters' decision-making to be more data-informed. We're an interdisciplinary group of scientists, consultants, and strategists from all sorts of backgrounds who join together to represent and advocate for players around the world. We believe that illuminating the globally diverse experiences, behaviors, and needs of players is critical to Riot living up to our player-focused mission. We're a group united by our love of games, science, and helping others succeed.
As an Insights Analyst III, you'll join the Insights discipline – the group of researchers, analysts, data scientists, and strategists responsible for solving problems and executing analyses that enable Rioters to make difficult decisions with confidence. You'll be part of an interdisciplinary team and work closely with Rioters from other disciplines (designers, artists, producers, etc.) to conduct studies and analyses that'll inform the features, systems, and experiences of our products. Your background in data analysis and strategic decision-making will ensure that you're an effective advocate for players and can provide strategic mentorship about their wants, needs, and behaviors.
As an Insights Analyst III on VALORANT, you will work with the Competitive and Social & Player Dynamics team, supporting the development of the competitive and player behavior systems of VALORANT. You will use data to answer questions such as:

• What does the ideal team-based tournament system look like?
• How do we detect unwanted and toxic behavior in the game?
• How do we ensure that player behavior moderation is working?
• And much more!
You will use your quantitative analysis -- including supporting generation and implementation of telemetry, developing quantitative models of product health, and generating foundational dashboards – to improve the player experience of VALORANT. You will also use your strategic thinking to help teams interpret complex trends, break down ambiguous problems, craft principles for success, and identify the right paths forwards. If you're looking to use your analytics toolkit and collaborate with designers and product owners to create industry-leading and player behavior systems, this is an excellent opportunity for you.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with product teams to produce frameworks and insights that improve the existing competitive and player behavior systems in VALORANT
• Work with leadership to prioritize development, taking into account delivery timelines, product impact, and opportunity cost.
• Identify the most impactful product questions and partner with data and engineering to implement the telemetry necessary to answer those questions
• Communicate strategic recommendations and product outcomes to business leaders and decision makers
• Use your storytelling skills to share your results with other Rioters
• Become the data expert for the Competitive and Social & Player Dynamics teams
• Work collaboratively with a cross functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers
Required Qualifications:
• 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, economic analysis, or related fields
• Proficiency in SQL, can maintain complex spreadsheets, and experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools
• Deep love for the scientific method - developing and testing hypotheses, and reporting on outcomes are important functions
• Experience breaking down complex problems and problem spaces using multiple business or product frameworks and creating solutions for our players and our business
• Experience analyzing large datasets and communicating recommendations to leadership/partners
Desired Qualifications:
• Advanced degrees in Economics, Behavioral Economics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Management Information Systems, a related discipline, or comparable work experiences
• Can take broad questions and refine them into tightly-defined data requirements
• Advanced in Excel, Powerpoint, and/or Tableau
• Knowledge of Python, Spark
• Experience working on a AAA game is preferred
For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
