Associate Art Director (Maps) - Unpublished R&D Product
Associate Art Directors at Riot oversee the quality and management of their team with a focus on mission, direction, and cohesion. Your scope of responsibilities include overall team culture and performance, growth of your direct reports, a deep understanding of audience resonance, building vision and strategy in collaboration with team leadership, and directing your team on successful execution of your team's vision and strategy.
As Senior Manager, Art Direction for Environment Art on this project, you will own the art direction for Maps, ensuring its cohesion in style and quality supports the project's game-wide art direction. You will partner closely with Maps team leadership to ensure your cross-discipline team delivers iconic, creative, and resonant experiences that create immersive levels and environments. You will also focus on developing a new art style and pipeline that will serve as the foundation for the project's long-term artistic vision. You will report into the Art Director.
Responsibilities
• Work with product and design leads to create and drive an art strategy that clearly supports the product and design goals.
• Lead and manage a high-performing, healthy, and collaborative multi-discipline art team, while actively contributing to growing the team by hiring and mentoring new talent.
• Actively collaborate with Art leadership across the project to identify and execute on opportunities for cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and implement pipelines, workflows, and processes that support the creation of high-quality environment art, ensuring they are scalable and adaptable for production.
• Grow and build an organization by establishing clear roles, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration, and driving long-term team development strategies.
• Effectively manage stakeholders, like the Creative Director and Product Art Director, to ensure Maps art direction clearly supports game-level creative and art goals.
• Produce and maintain artifacts that inform, align, and empower teams to successfully create environment art in the project's style.
• Contribute to key tasks, such as defining artistic benchmarks, testing technical solutions, and establishing the foundational vision for environment art.
Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of experience leading environment focused art teams in game development
• 8+ years of experience in the Environment Art discipline
• Has shipped at least 1 game at a AAA studio
• Experience working on a stylized game.
Desired Qualifications
• Professional experience establishing art vision and strategy
• Demonstrated experience managing art leads
• Deep knowledge of Riot's Live Games IPs

• (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $185,200.00 - $258,000.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
