Gold Derby: Senior Editor, Music & Awards
Gold Derby, the pre-eminent source for awards news, analysis, and predictions, is seeking an experienced entertainment journalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of experience covering awards and entertainment for major consumer or industry publications and have a keen, in-depth knowledge, understanding, and passion for awards and especially music.
As PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Responsibilities:
• Cover all aspects of campaigns for major awards, including Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, Grammys and more: pitch and write story ideas; attend and report on industry events
• Oversee all coverage of music, including album releases, major concerts, and festivals as it relates to music awards
• Conduct interviews with above- and below-the-line talent
• Maintain relationships with external partners, including studios, networks, publicists, agents, and executives
• Work closely with Gold Derby's video editor to create compelling video content
Qualifications:
Candidates must be based in Los Angeles and be willing to work 4 days out of our Los Angeles office.
• Strong news sense; ability to work quickly and on tight deadlines
• Extensive relationships throughout the entertainment industry
• Deep knowledge of SEO and social media best practices
• Impeccable editing, writing and research skills
• Collaborative working style
• Ability to work self-sufficiently and be proactive
• 5-7 years editorial experience
Typical wage range: $80k – $90k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.
The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
